Order management software in India: the complete buyer's guide
What is the best order management software in India?
There is no single best one — the right choice depends on your channels, order volume and whether you need warehouse and GST features. Judge every option against the same ten criteria: channel coverage, multi-account support, real-time stock, GST invoicing, settlement reconciliation, warehouse workflows, courier integration, data isolation, predictable pricing and local support. OMS Pro by Capturo is built to cover all ten for Indian multi-channel sellers.
What is the difference between an OMS and an ERP?
An OMS runs day-to-day commerce operations: multi-channel orders, stock, invoicing, warehouse and shipping. An ERP runs the wider business: accounting, finance, procurement and often manufacturing. Growing sellers usually need an OMS first, and many larger companies run both, with the OMS handling marketplace operations and feeding the ERP.
How much does order management software cost in India?
It depends far more on the pricing model than the headline price. Flat monthly subscriptions are predictable; per-order pricing gets expensive exactly when you are busiest. OMS Pro uses flat monthly plans at ₹999, ₹2,999 and ₹7,999 per month, plus a custom Enterprise tier, with a 14-day free trial on paid plans and two months free on annual billing.
When should a seller move from spreadsheets to an OMS?
When you sell the same SKU on more than one channel, when you have cancelled an order because stock was wrong, or when you pass roughly 500 orders a month. Below that, a single seller panel and a disciplined spreadsheet is usually enough.
Can order management software handle multiple Amazon accounts?
Some can and many cannot. Ask specifically whether several seller accounts on the same marketplace stay separately reported rather than merged into one pool. OMS Pro supports multiple accounts per marketplace, each with its own listings, orders and settlements.
How long does it take to set up an OMS?
One to two weeks for a small seller, and most of that time goes on catalogue cleanup and a physical stock count rather than the software itself. Connect one channel first, confirm it behaves, then add the others.
OMS vs ERP: which one does a growing online seller need?
Is an OMS part of an ERP?
Some ERPs include an order management module, but it is usually built for wholesale and distribution rather than marketplace selling. It rarely handles marketplace-specific things like settlement reconciliation, RTO parcels or connecting several seller accounts on one marketplace.
Should a small seller buy an ERP?
Usually not. An ERP is a multi-quarter project and solves finance problems. A seller struggling with multi-channel orders and stock should start with an OMS, which can be running in days and reversed if it is wrong.
Can OMS Pro work alongside an ERP like Tally or SAP?
Yes. The standard pattern is for OMS Pro to own commerce operations and export reconciled sales, invoice and stock-movement data into your accounting or ERP system, so the ledger stays authoritative for finance without your operations team living inside it.
Spreadsheets vs an OMS: when Excel stops paying for itself
Can I manage e-commerce orders in Excel?
Yes, on a single channel at low volume. Excel fails once two channels share the same stock, because it cannot update itself when a sale happens elsewhere, and it has no audit trail to explain a discrepancy after the fact.
How many orders a month can a spreadsheet handle?
Most sellers report the limit is roughly 300 to 500 orders a month with one person on one channel. But the real trigger is usually the second sales channel rather than the volume.
Will I lose my spreadsheet history when I move to an OMS?
No. Import products and opening stock, keep the old sheet read-only as a historical reference, and start the new system with a clean physical count. Past records stay exactly where they are.
Seller panels vs an OMS: why four dashboards never become one
Do I still need Amazon Seller Central if I use an OMS?
Yes. Seller Central remains the only place for listing creation, category compliance, account health, appeals and advertising. An OMS handles operations across all your channels — stock, orders, invoicing, picking, shipping and settlements — and does not replace the marketplace's own tools.
Can I manage Amazon and Flipkart orders in one dashboard?
Yes, that is precisely what an order management system does. Orders from every connected channel arrive in one queue, share one stock ledger, and produce one invoice series, while you continue to use each marketplace's panel for listings and policy.
Is buffer stock a workable alternative?
Only at small scale, and it is expensive. Splitting stock across channels means each channel shows less than you have, so you lose sales on all of them to avoid overselling on one.
Inventory management software vs an OMS
Is an OMS the same as inventory management software?
No. Inventory management software tracks stock quantities, locations and reorder points. An order management system includes that and adds the order lifecycle, GST invoicing, picking and packing, courier dispatch and marketplace settlement reconciliation.
Can I use inventory software for marketplace selling?
Partly. It will keep your quantities accurate, but you will still need separate answers for invoicing, courier labels, returns handling and reconciling what each marketplace paid you — which is where sellers usually end up buying a second tool.
Building your own OMS vs buying one
How much does it cost to build a custom order management system?
The first working version is usually a few developer-months. The cost that decides the outcome is ongoing: marketplace and courier API changes, GST rule changes, retries and reconciliation edge cases, plus someone on call during peak sale periods — indefinitely.
Is a custom OMS better because it fits our process exactly?
It fits today's process exactly. Processes change as you grow, and a bought system has already absorbed the variations of thousands of sellers. Custom fit is worth paying for only where the process is genuinely your advantage.
Can we start with a bought OMS and build later?
Yes, and it is the lower-risk order. Buy the commodity operations now, learn what is genuinely specific to you from real data, then build only that thin layer on top of the system's API.
What is an order management system (OMS)?
What does OMS stand for?
OMS stands for order management system — software that brings orders from every sales channel into one place and keeps a single authoritative stock number behind them, through invoicing, fulfilment and payment reconciliation.
What is the difference between an OMS and a WMS?
An OMS owns the commercial lifecycle of an order — where it came from, what it costs, whether it was invoiced and paid. A WMS owns the physical lifecycle inside the building — where stock is stored, how it is picked and how it is packed. Many OMS products, including OMS Pro, include warehouse workflows.
Do I need an OMS if I only sell on one marketplace?
Usually not at first. The marketplace's own seller panel is authoritative for that channel. An OMS starts paying for itself when you add a second channel, ship from more than one location, or cross roughly 500 orders a month.
How to sync inventory across Amazon, Flipkart, Meesho and Shopify
How do I keep stock in sync between Amazon and Flipkart?
Map both listings to one canonical SKU, hold the quantity in a single stock ledger, and let that system push available quantity to both channels whenever it changes. Never maintain the number separately in each seller panel — two sources of truth guarantee an oversell.
How fast should marketplace inventory sync be?
Near real time for fast-moving SKUs, which in practice means seconds to a couple of minutes depending on the marketplace's API limits. Because some lag always exists, hold a small buffer on your fastest sellers rather than assuming instant propagation.
What is a safety buffer and how much should I hold?
A buffer is stock you deliberately do not advertise, so a sale that lands during sync lag does not oversell. Hold it only on SKUs that sell fast enough for lag to matter; on slow movers it just hides sellable stock.
How to stop overselling — and stop running out at the same time
What causes overselling on marketplaces?
Almost always more than one source of truth for stock — each channel holding its own quantity — or stock being deducted only at dispatch, so orders confirmed but not yet shipped still appear available. Bundles that are not modelled as component consumption are the third common cause.
How do I calculate a reorder point?
Multiply average daily sales by supplier lead time in days, then add safety stock. Recalculate monthly, and separately for festive periods when demand rises and supplier lead times usually lengthen at the same time.
Does cancelling an oversold order hurt my seller account?
Yes. On most Indian marketplaces, seller-initiated cancellations feed a performance metric that affects listing visibility and buy-box eligibility, so the damage typically outlasts and outweighs the single lost order.
GST invoicing for e-commerce sellers, explained
Do I charge CGST and SGST or IGST on a marketplace order?
It follows the place of supply. For goods, that is where delivery terminates. If the delivery state is the state where you are registered, charge CGST and SGST; if it is another state, charge IGST.
How do I handle GST on an e-commerce return?
Issue a credit note that references the original invoice number and date, reversing the value and tax for the returned goods, and declare it in the correct return period. Never delete or edit the original invoice.
Can invoice numbers have gaps?
No. Numbers must be consecutive within a series for the financial year. Gaps and duplicates usually come from numbering invoices in two systems at once, so let exactly one system own each series.
Does an OMS generate GST invoices automatically?
A capable one does. OMS Pro produces GST-compliant invoices for orders across every connected channel, keeps the numbering series sequential, issues credit notes for returns, and reconciles marketplace settlements against what was invoiced.
Running multiple Amazon or Flipkart seller accounts in one system
Can I manage two Amazon seller accounts in one dashboard?
Yes, if the software supports multiple connections per marketplace. Each account should keep its own listings, orders and settlements, with the option to view them separately or combined. OMS Pro is built for this; many tools allow only one connection per marketplace.
Should multiple accounts share stock?
It depends on whether they are the same legal entity holding the same physical stock. A shared pool maximises availability; separate pools guarantee each account has what it advertises. Decide per SKU rather than as a blanket rule.
Do separate seller accounts need separate invoice series?
If they belong to different legal entities or GSTINs, yes — each entity needs its own sequential series. Sharing one series across two GSTINs is a compliance problem.
Marketplace settlement reconciliation: finding the money you were owed
Why is my marketplace payout less than my order value?
Because the payout is order value minus commission, shipping and closing fees, your share of promotions, penalties and return recoveries, adjusted for TCS. Each of those is computed by a separate rule, and each can be applied incorrectly.
How often should I reconcile marketplace settlements?
Monthly. It keeps you inside every marketplace's claim window, and it catches systematic errors — like a category charged at the wrong commission slab — before they apply to a year of orders.
What settlement errors are most commonly recoverable?
Commission charged at the wrong category or price slab, shipping charged on an inflated volumetric weight, return costs deducted twice, closing fees on orders that were cancelled before dispatch, and penalties for delays caused by the courier.
A pick, pack and dispatch workflow that scales past one room
What is the difference between picking and packing?
Picking is collecting the items for an order from their storage locations. Packing is verifying those items against the order, boxing them, and attaching the shipping label. Verification belongs at packing because it is the last point where a mistake is still cheap to fix.
When should I switch to batch picking?
Around fifty orders a day. Below that, picking order by order is simpler. Above it, walking the same aisle repeatedly costs more time than the sorting step that batch picking adds.
When should returned stock become sellable again?
On physical receipt and inspection, never on a courier tracking event. Adding stock back when tracking says 'returned' creates phantom inventory that will oversell.
Order management software for Amazon sellers in India
What is the best order management software for Amazon sellers in India?
The one that covers your other channels too, supports more than one Amazon account, produces GST invoices and reconciles settlements. OMS Pro by Capturo is built for exactly that combination, with flat monthly pricing from ₹999 and a 14-day free trial on paid plans.
Will an OMS replace Amazon Seller Central?
No, and it should not. Seller Central remains authoritative for listings, category compliance, account health and advertising. The OMS handles operations across all your channels — stock, orders, invoicing, fulfilment and settlements.
Can I connect both Amazon and Flipkart to the same system?
Yes. Both connect to the same stock ledger and order queue, so a sale on either channel updates availability on the other and both appear in one day's work for your warehouse.
Order management software for Flipkart sellers
Can I manage Flipkart and Amazon orders in one place?
Yes. Both connect to the same stock ledger and order queue in OMS Pro, so a sale on one immediately reduces availability on the other and your warehouse works from a single combined pick list.
How does an OMS help with Flipkart dispatch SLAs?
By making the operation faster and more accurate: batched picking across all channels, scan verification at packing, and a recorded courier handover — so parcels leave inside the window and fewer orders are cancelled for stock errors.
Order management software for Meesho sellers
How should Meesho returns and RTO be handled in an OMS?
Returned units should re-enter sellable stock only after they are physically received and inspected, never on a courier tracking event. RTO parcels and customer returns should be routed differently at receiving, and the return cost attributed to the SKU so per-product margin stays honest.
Can I sell on Meesho and Amazon from the same stock?
Yes. Both channels read from one stock ledger, so a sale on either reduces availability on the other. That is the main reason multi-channel sellers adopt an OMS.
Order management for Shopify and D2C brands
Can I run Shopify and marketplaces from the same inventory?
Yes. Connect the storefront and each marketplace to one stock ledger, and every channel reads the same availability. You can also reserve part of a SKU's stock for your own storefront so a marketplace sale event does not consume it all.
Does Shopify not already manage my orders?
It manages orders placed on Shopify. It does not know about your Amazon, Flipkart or Meesho sales, cannot hold one stock number across them, and does not reconcile marketplace settlements — which is the gap an OMS fills.
For sellers running multiple marketplace accounts
Can one system handle several Amazon accounts and several GSTINs?
Yes, if it models accounts and legal entities separately. Each account keeps its own connection, orders and settlements, and each GSTIN needs its own sequential invoice series, while the warehouse and courier workflow can still be shared across all of them.
Will my accounts' data get mixed together?
It should not. In OMS Pro each connected account keeps its own listings, orders and settlements, and staff access can be scoped per account — so a person handling one brand does not see the other's financials.
For brands shipping from more than one warehouse
How does an OMS decide which warehouse ships an order?
By an allocation rule you configure — commonly nearest to the customer, the location with the most stock, or a fixed priority order. Nearest-to-customer is the usual default because it minimises shipping cost and best supports marketplace delivery SLAs.
How should stock transfers between warehouses be recorded?
As in-transit stock with a source, destination and quantity — not as a deduction at dispatch and an addition on arrival. Units in transit still exist, and hiding them breaks both planning and reconciliation.
Do I need a separate GST registration for a warehouse in another state?
Generally yes — holding and supplying goods from another state usually requires registration in that state. Because the details depend on your arrangement, confirm the position with your CA before opening the location.
Amazon integration for order management
Can I connect more than one Amazon seller account?
Yes. Each Amazon account connects separately in OMS Pro and keeps its own listings, orders and settlements, so you can report per account and per legal entity while still running one shared warehouse workflow.
Does this replace Amazon Seller Central?
No. Seller Central stays authoritative for listing creation, category compliance, account health, appeals and advertising. OMS Pro handles operations across all your channels — stock, orders, invoicing, fulfilment and settlement reconciliation.
How do I connect Amazon to OMS Pro?
Authorise your Amazon account under Settings → Integrations, map every listing to a canonical SKU, set opening stock from a physical count, then run order import one-way for a few days before enabling stock updates back to Amazon.
Will connecting Amazon change my listings?
Listing creation and content stay in Amazon's own seller tools. OMS Pro reads orders and product identifiers, and writes available quantity — it does not rewrite your listing content.
Flipkart integration for order management
Can Flipkart and Amazon share the same stock in OMS Pro?
Yes. Both connect to one stock ledger, so a unit sold on Flipkart immediately reduces what Amazon is told is available, and both channels' orders appear in a single pick list for the day.
Does it help with Flipkart dispatch SLAs?
Indirectly but materially: batched picking, scan verification at packing and bulk label generation shorten the time between an order arriving and the parcel being handed over, which is what the SLA measures.
How do I connect Flipkart to OMS Pro?
Authorise your Flipkart account under Settings → Integrations, map every listing to a canonical SKU, set opening stock from a physical count, then run order import one-way for a few days before enabling stock updates back to Flipkart.
Will connecting Flipkart change my listings?
Listing creation and content stay in Flipkart's own seller tools. OMS Pro reads orders and product identifiers, and writes available quantity — it does not rewrite your listing content.
Meesho integration for order management
How are Meesho RTO parcels handled?
As a receiving event, not a tracking event. Units re-enter sellable stock only when the parcel is physically received and inspected, which prevents the phantom inventory that causes the next oversell.
Can I see real profit per SKU on Meesho?
Yes, once commissions, forward and return shipping and any recoveries are attributed back to the SKU. That is what turns an apparently profitable product into an accurate number.
How do I connect Meesho to OMS Pro?
Authorise your Meesho account under Settings → Integrations, map every listing to a canonical SKU, set opening stock from a physical count, then run order import one-way for a few days before enabling stock updates back to Meesho.
Will connecting Meesho change my listings?
Listing creation and content stay in Meesho's own seller tools. OMS Pro reads orders and product identifiers, and writes available quantity — it does not rewrite your listing content.
Myntra integration for order management
How are size and colour variants handled?
Each size and colour combination is its own SKU with its own stock, grouped under a parent style. That is what lets one size sell out without affecting the availability shown for the others.
How do I connect Myntra to OMS Pro?
Not yet — Myntra is on the roadmap and the connector is not built. When it ships it will follow the same path as the channels already supported: authorise the account under Settings → Integrations, map every listing to a canonical SKU, set opening stock from a physical count, then run order import one-way before enabling stock updates back. Amazon, Flipkart, Meesho and Shopify are ready to connect today.
Will connecting Myntra change my listings?
Listing creation and content stay in Myntra's own seller tools. OMS Pro reads orders and product identifiers, and writes available quantity — it does not rewrite your listing content.
AJIO integration for order management
Can I list the same styles on AJIO and Myntra safely?
Yes, provided both listings map to the same canonical SKU and read from one stock ledger. That is exactly the situation where separate seller panels cause oversells.
How do I connect AJIO to OMS Pro?
Not yet — AJIO is on the roadmap and the connector is not built.
Will connecting AJIO change my listings?
Listing creation and content stay in AJIO's own seller tools. OMS Pro reads orders and product identifiers, and writes available quantity — it does not rewrite your listing content.
JioMart integration for order management
Is an OMS worth it for low-value orders?
That is precisely where it pays: when margin per order is small, the minutes spent processing each one manually are the cost that matters, and batching is what removes them.
How do I connect JioMart to OMS Pro?
Not yet — JioMart is on the roadmap and the connector is not built.
Will connecting JioMart change my listings?
Listing creation and content stay in JioMart's own seller tools. OMS Pro reads orders and product identifiers, and writes available quantity — it does not rewrite your listing content.
Snapdeal integration for order management
Is it worth connecting a low-volume channel?
Usually yes, because low-volume channels are the ones that get updated by hand least often and therefore oversell most. Automation costs you nothing extra per channel once the system is running.
How do I connect Snapdeal to OMS Pro?
Not yet — Snapdeal is on the roadmap and the connector is not built.
Will connecting Snapdeal change my listings?
Listing creation and content stay in Snapdeal's own seller tools. OMS Pro reads orders and product identifiers, and writes available quantity — it does not rewrite your listing content.
eBay integration for order management
Can I sell domestically and internationally from one stock pool?
Yes, and you should, unless you deliberately hold separate stock for export. One ledger prevents a domestic sale and an international one from claiming the same unit.
How do I connect eBay to OMS Pro?
Not yet — eBay is on the roadmap and the connector is not built.
Will connecting eBay change my listings?
Listing creation and content stay in eBay's own seller tools. OMS Pro reads orders and product identifiers, and writes available quantity — it does not rewrite your listing content.
Shopify integration for order management
Does Shopify not already do order management?
For Shopify orders, yes. It cannot hold one stock number across your marketplace channels, produce a single invoice series across them, or reconcile marketplace settlements — which is the gap an OMS fills.
Can I protect storefront stock from a marketplace sale event?
Yes. You can reserve a portion of a SKU's stock for your own storefront so a marketplace flash sale does not consume everything, which matters when the storefront is your higher-margin channel.
How do I connect Shopify to OMS Pro?
Authorise your Shopify account under Settings → Integrations, map every listing to a canonical SKU, set opening stock from a physical count, then run order import one-way for a few days before enabling stock updates back to Shopify.
Will connecting Shopify change my listings?
Listing creation and content stay in Shopify's own seller tools. OMS Pro reads orders and product identifiers, and writes available quantity — it does not rewrite your listing content.
WooCommerce integration for order management
Will this conflict with my existing WooCommerce plugins?
It should not, because the OMS operates outside the store: it reads orders and writes stock. The place to be careful is invoicing — pick one system to own the numbering series rather than letting a plugin and the OMS both issue documents.
How do I connect WooCommerce to OMS Pro?
Not yet — WooCommerce is on the roadmap and the connector is not built.
Will connecting WooCommerce change my listings?
Listing creation and content stay in WooCommerce's own seller tools. OMS Pro reads orders and product identifiers, and writes available quantity — it does not rewrite your listing content.
BigCommerce integration for order management
How are large catalogues handled?
By mapping every storefront variant to a canonical SKU once, at setup. Catalogue size is not the difficulty; duplicate or unmapped SKUs are, which is why unmapped listings should block sync rather than warn.
How do I connect BigCommerce to OMS Pro?
Not yet — BigCommerce is on the roadmap and the connector is not built.
Will connecting BigCommerce change my listings?
Listing creation and content stay in BigCommerce's own seller tools. OMS Pro reads orders and product identifiers, and writes available quantity — it does not rewrite your listing content.
Shiprocket integration for order management
Do I still choose couriers in Shiprocket?
Yes. Courier selection, rate cards and serviceability stay in Shiprocket. The integration handles booking shipments for your orders in bulk and bringing tracking, delivery and RTO events back onto the order record.
How do I connect Shiprocket to my order management system?
Add your own Shiprocket account credentials in OMS Pro under Settings → Integrations, choose a default service and pickup location, then book one test shipment end to end before switching your daily dispatches over.
Delhivery integration for order management
Can I use my own Delhivery rate card?
Yes. The integration books against your own courier account, so your negotiated rates apply exactly as they would if you booked manually.
How do I connect Delhivery to my order management system?
Add your own Delhivery account credentials in OMS Pro under Settings → Integrations, choose a default service and pickup location, then book one test shipment end to end before switching your daily dispatches over.
DTDC integration for order management
Can I use more than one courier at the same time?
Yes, and most sellers should. Different networks perform differently by region and weight, so orders can be booked with whichever courier suits them while all of them report back to the same order record.
How do I connect DTDC to my order management system?
Not yet — DTDC is on the roadmap and the connector is not built. When it ships it will work like the couriers already supported: add your own DTDC credentials under Settings → Integrations, choose a default service and pickup location, then book one test shipment end to end before switching your daily dispatches over. Shiprocket and Delhivery are ready to connect today.
XpressBees integration for order management
How is COD remittance handled?
A COD order is not finished at delivery — the money still has to reach you. Keeping the remittance linked to the order is what lets you spot amounts that were delivered but never remitted.
How do I connect XpressBees to my order management system?
Not yet — XpressBees is on the roadmap and the connector is not built. When it ships it will work like the couriers already supported: add your own XpressBees credentials under Settings → Integrations, choose a default service and pickup location, then book one test shipment end to end before switching your daily dispatches over. Shiprocket and Delhivery are ready to connect today.
FedEx integration for order management
Why does weight capture matter more for express shipping?
Because express carriers bill on volumetric weight, and a small error repeated across every shipment is a large recurring cost. Capturing actual weight and dimensions at packing is what makes the invoice checkable.
How do I connect FedEx to my order management system?
Not yet — FedEx is on the roadmap and the connector is not built. When it ships it will work like the couriers already supported: add your own FedEx credentials under Settings → Integrations, choose a default service and pickup location, then book one test shipment end to end before switching your daily dispatches over. Shiprocket and Delhivery are ready to connect today.
