Pick list
Definition
The document or screen telling a picker which items to collect, in which quantities, from which locations, ordered by an efficient route.
A good pick list is sorted by location rather than by order, so the picker walks the building once. Sorting into individual orders happens afterwards, at packing.
Above roughly fifty orders a day, picking one order at a time means walking the same aisle repeatedly, which is the point at which batch picking starts paying for its extra sorting step.
