E-way bill
Definition
An electronically generated document required for the movement of goods above a notified consignment value, carried with the shipment.
It records what is moving, from where, to where and by whom, and is generated on the government portal before the movement begins.
Thresholds and the treatment of intra-state movement vary by state, and marketplace-fulfilled shipments are often handled by the logistics partner — but responsibility depends on the arrangement, so confirm yours.
