Cycle count
Definition
Counting a small slice of your stock regularly — weekly, by category or velocity — instead of counting everything once a year.
An annual stocktake tells you that you are wrong, and gives you no way to find out why. A discrepancy found within a week of occurring usually has a traceable cause: a mis-pick, an unrecorded return, a transfer nobody logged.
Count fast movers more often than slow ones. Inventory accuracy below roughly 98% means your available-stock number is fiction and every downstream decision inherits the error.
